Lead time
After you order and approve engineered drawings, expect a few weeks to a few months depending on size, complexity, and season. Coastal and commercial buildings take longer because of engineering and certification.
Site prep comes first
You need a level, accessible pad and — for most buildings — a cured slab before erection. Drainage, access for a delivery truck and lift, and the foundation are yours to have ready.
Erection
A crew sets the frames, then purlins, girts, sheeting, trim, and doors. A simple garage can go up in days; a large commercial building takes longer. On a DIY kit, this is the part you're taking on — plan the crew and equipment.
Inspection & finish-out
The building department inspects to the permit; coastal builds add the windstorm (WPI-8) inspection. Then any finish-out — electrical, insulation, interior — happens on your schedule.
